Clip
one – Terminator 1.44 - 4:09
Starts of as the Terminator looks like he is trapped in the cage and this shows how portray him as a animalistic character. Throughout the clip, the song lyrics are ' You got me burning' perhaps suggest something is going to happen, death. At the 1:55 minute mark, the cage is behind him while the men is trying to stop him but he shows aggression during these few seconds by grabbing onto the man hand and crushing it. Again this suggests how animalistic he is. At 2:07 mark, Sarah Connor is on her own which shows her as vulnerable and unaware of what is about to happen. 2:20 into the clip, the lady is wearing a red skirt which suggest blood or danger and a white tiger which also show the animalistic features within the chip. A close up shot of Sarah Connor shows the audience her exact emotions. At the 2:34 mark, she look concerned and worried about something and just looking at this clip we don't know what yet. The colour red overall represents many thing and for example, danger or death, love or passionate. Same colour but some have completely different meanings but with this scene, the red tube light behind the Terminator suggests danger. The Terminator is the main attraction at the 2:49 mark to show his power and strength and to a audience, it looks rather intimidating and I personally would not like to come across him. They picked Arnold to play this part because he looks fierce and threatening and not to be messed with. His build looks strong and meaningful. 2:52 he slowly places his head slightly lower than the 'normal position' to get the audience on edge and he wants them and Sarah Connor to feel intimidated. 3:06 he is pushing the dancers away and that suggest power and he is trying to get to someone (Sarah Connor) His facial expression shows the audience he is fierce and uncomfortable and obviously something is going to happen because when he saw Sarah Connor, he did not take him eyes off her and this suggest that she is the target that he is looking for. During this part of the scene, the music seems to be more mysterious and it has slowed down to create tension to the audience and prepare for what is about the happen. At 3:10 there is a high angle shot to show the power and authority of the Terminator. The next shot is of Kyle Reese preparing his gun. This section of the scene is slightly odd since for the past 2 or so minutes, the focus has been on the Terminator and Sarah Connor and all of a sudden, out of the blue, Kyle Reese comes along with a gun about to do something. This section is slowed down to create suspense for the audience and also created tension within the scene. As soon as the gun fires, the music in the background, to create the atmosphere to where the scene takes place, in the night club, stops and the screaming of the people in the club begins while the gun shots still resonate. In the last shot at 3:37, which is the Terminator's hand the director has put a close of his hand to make it the main focus within these few seconds. As the finger's move, the audience would want to know why his fingers are still moving and how he is still a life. If this is the only section of the scene that the audience has seen, they will be wondering why.
Clip two – The Sixth Sense

At the start of the chip, 00:00, all the audience can see is a police officer lighting up a flare. This could show to the audience that something bad has happened and the flame will will other people know that something bad has happened and the urgent warning needs to let people know what is happening. Through out the few next seconds, a tracking to show the audience the location and perhaps some scenery of where they are in this scene. 00:10 seconds in and the audience will have some kind of idea what is now going because at the 10 second mark, there is a blue car crashed into another car which is in front. And also with a police officer and the witness the officer talks about to the witness and the witness replies saying 'I'm okay officer' suggesting that he was in the accident.car crash. At the 00:21 second mark, you begin to hear the mum's voice but 23 seconds later is the point where you finally see her face. They have done this because it creates a sense of mystery and make the audience wonder where the voice is coming from. The sense of location is important because it seems like an average, normal day when this which is conventional of a thriller because it will give the audience a much bigger scare if it is random and out of the blue rather than something that the audience knows id going to happen. 0:50 seconds on into the clip, the little boy's facial expressions symbolises to the audience that he is worried and perhaps needs to get something off his chest to tell his mum. Even though the mum is wearing a bright orange jumper to attract the viewer's eyes it is actually the little boy who is the main attraction in this shot just because the fact of the facial features and just why way that he is looking at his mum. 0:50-0:56 the little boy stares at his mum also trying to reach out to her. As an audience, personally I feel sorry for him because he has kept it in for so long and now this is the time to tell his mum what is actually going on. 'I am ready to communicate with you now' this is unusual for an eight year old boy to say that to his mother. He must feel really comfortable in front of his mother and also must feel like she would understand what he is about to say. The mother turns to him for support and encouragement. Now she is focusing on him and him alone. She has forgotten all about what has happened further ahead.

A detailed analysis - well done. Make sure that you focus on using terminology and showing how each clip relates to, or challenges, the typical conventions of a thriller.
