Filming :-
Evaluation
From doing the preliminary task in Media Studies AS level
I think it gave us a very good idea of what our main task is going to be like.
I personally I have learnt many thing from doing this.
For instance, we know now what to do and what not to do. One thing that we are
not going to do is put dialogue in it because we all think that it will be more
effective with no dialogue and with just non-diegetic and diegetic sound.
Some of the good things that we did produced by doing
this short film were the angles of the shot and the zooming in on some parts of
the body, for example, my hands at the start. Also, we took so a few lessons on
our finally storyline. We planned it out very clearly and I liked how we agreed
on most things and listened to each other’s ideas. We worked very hard as a
team and together we got a final result.
Some things in our preliminary task needed to be hugely
improved. For example there were some jump cuts and another problem was the
continuity within the task. However, we did film over two lessons just because
one wasn’t enough. The two days that we were filming it was hard to not look
the exact same as in the first day if filming. Also, if we did some things
differently then perhaps it would have been a lot easier with the editing.
Finally, for our actual thriller, I would like to keep in
the some group/team because now we know how the same people work and I like how
we work well together. We have learned from our mistakes and we plan to make our actual task much better than our preliminary
task.

Your blog is looking excellent Laura - lots of evidence of good research and planning: keep up this level of detail and show how your production progresses from your initial ideas to the shoot.
ReplyDeleteYour prelim is a sound production - a L3 if I were grading it. Some areas to sharpen up in your production - steady camera work, especially pans. Work on framing / composition - needs to be better in places. Also you seem to have some jump cuts in places – not sure if this is just YouTube? Try to get a wider range of shot types in your thriller footage – aim for a lot of close ups too that you can cut in.
You need to post an evaluation of your prelim - strengths / areas for improvement.
