Pie Charts of Our Questionaire

From the answers that I receieved from all the questionnaires, I found out that the girls were more into the thriller than the boys and we got more detailed answers from the questionnaire from the girls as well. Some examples of this would be:

The video below is for out final piece of music that we are putting onto our opening of our thriller.
We have chosen this piece of music because we thought that i matched the theme to our thriller and also linked to the childlike story with little Lily.

Thursday, 13 December 2012

Today, Me and Ronnie came into A11, period 4 (free period for both of us) to try and complete and place 'twinkle twinkle little star' onto it as well. The video below is another development of our opening of thriller.

Poem - Lily

We decided to put part of a poem onto our thriller opening at the end. This is the poem below:
Lily stares, searching for an answer,
Through the glassy image in the mirror.
A crystal tear falls,
So small, yet holding so much.
She's silent but screaming,
Nobody hears.
We are going to place this into the thriller opening because I thought it would be a good change to opening to a  thriller film. We all thought by putting this onto our oening, that it will give the audience a good sence of what to going to happen next through out the film.

Out takes - 6th December 2012

This shot above is me droving the large stone onto the first square of the hop scotch. We had to practise this shot as I had to make sure that the stone would be on the square. It was harder than I thought.

The video shot is me holding the camera for a P of V shot and then I jumped into the next square. Simple but effective.
I wrote 'DONE' on the floor because we had finally finished our title sequence number two.

The two videos above are practises, one of emergency stop & two travelling along the road an us using a pan shot.

These two videos (above & below) this are of me in the car messing around with the camera. We were on our way home from filming. the car was lovely and warm and my fingers were defrosting since it was so cold outside!

Film development

*      This is where we are so far.

*      Before we have move some clips around so see if that works and changed the flashbacks to black and white

*      Whilst changing the theme of the title sequence to "dream" theme, we tried to make the writing stand out. On our 2nd title sequence that we filmed on the 6th December, the writing was a lot clearer because the boxes were bigger and so was the writing.

*      The music is on there now which gave the audience more to relate to because the music gives the audience tense.

*      There are some problems with the music. It does not make sense and makes no link towards the plot. Therefore we came up with the idea of cutting all of the music out of the thriller opening and focus on the shots and action within.

*      This is because Ronnie didn’t take into a consideration the sync whilst i was making this on the garage band.

*      Also although we have tried to make my voice to sync to her singing in the clip, we did not succeed with that.

*      Future improvements: We will try and find something simple for the music

*      We will also need to record me singing again, whilst looking at the clip, so I will know where about I can sing certain bits.

*      On the 6th, we filmed the car sequence and title sequence. For the title sequence we tried to get a lot variety with the shots.

*      The main reason we filmed on the 6th was because of the car sequence.

*      I will post another video diary of an upgrade version and the full version of our thriller.

Inspired shots

The Sixth Sense

This scene where the mother and son are in the car in a traffic jam because someone has fallen of thier bike and died.
What inspired us becauase this shot is the angle of the shot and shows the relationsship with mother and son but in our case father and his daughters.
It gives a sense of mystery as the audience as it  would want to know who the characters are, why they are important in this film and what has happened to Lily.
The audience want to know how the two relate to each other and in this case, the relationship between the two people in the car is they are all a family and the little girl dies.

The shot above from The Sixth Sense also inspired us because we used a similar shot in our thriller opening. We thought it would spook the audince out and hopefully the idea was to get the audience to think who Lily is, what is happening  and why what and happened to her.

Production Logo Improvements

We have decided to to go with the red for the production logo because red represents a big doolop of things. For example, it couold suggest anger, frustration, death or blood. With our thriller opening, we want the audience to feel on the egde and be cautious for what is about to come. We thimk the colour red respents that as well as the other things.

Sound & Music

We thought for our music to either be a backing track of a song any of these songs below. Then slow it down and fade it into the track of Me singing the childern's rhyme 'twinkle twinkle little star'.

We had a idea to create our own track and see below for some examples of the ideas that we had.

6th December 2012
Car Sequence

We leave school at 12:00 pm on 6th December.
We are then straight away going to get to the location, which is the village - Graby. We are going to find a suitable road and set up.
We are getting Laura ready (make up, and get changed)
Next, we are going to get filming: a) A pan shot and a shot of the car coming towards us (a long shot)
b) Two shot of us in the car, joking about and talking
c) and then, Shannone will sit on teh backseat of the car, right next to Laura and she will film Laura touching my face and my hair. Automatically, i can feel cold and i touch my face .

d) Sannone's dad will the then look in
the central mirror, where Shannone's dad is going to look at, and look down on the road again and realising what he has seen in teh mirror, he looks again, but he will not be able to see anything in the mirror again.
d) Confused and now anxious, he looks at the back of the car where he has previously seen Laura and he cannot see anyone on the back seat anymore
e) As he turns around to look back on the road, Laura will appear on the road, right in front of the car.
f) This is the point where Shannone's dad turns the steering wheel and the tire squeel will be heard.
e) From that, it will go staright to the flashback that we have already done.

Filming -
Leave school at 12 and get to location at 12:10, which is at Graby.

Find a suitable road and start to set up.

Get Laura to get ready, so clothes and make-up.

We film the first car shot which is a long shot of the car coming towards us and then a pan as the car goes past.

Next we film a two shot of Ronnie and now of my dad, Wayne, in the car talking.

Next is a shot of my dad looking up in the car mirror looking at the backseat but it is only a quick glance.

Next a two shot with Laura in the backseat.

Then a shot of my dad looking at the mirror again, which goes into another two shot but there is no Laura. Then it goes into flashbacks.

Then there is a shot from behind Laura of the car coming towards the camera and her.

Then a shot of Ronnie and Wayne gasping.

A pan of the car swerving her and then a shot of the wheels screeching to a holt.

A shot from the backseat of Ronnie and Wayne turning around, then a shot of the empty road, then a shot of them turning round then a close up of Ronnie's face looking scared then a shot of my dad turning round to look out the window then a jump cut to Laura's face in the window.

PICTURES - 06/12/12

The ladder which Shannon had to climb.
This ladder is so we get high enough to do a very high shot for our title sequence - hop scotch.

Shannon having to sit on the floor (road) while I stand on the first square on the hop scotch.
This is where Shannon was filming a extremely low shot of just my feet.

Our idea for thriller

Plan for the day

  1. Everyday driving along a long narrow road (Graby) (Jana and Ronnie with Shannon in the back filming
  2. Listening to the sound of the radio - louder on the inside but still can hear on the outside of the can when shannon pans the camera round
  3. Casual convo, laughting and joking around with each other
  4. Looking at each other thinking and seeing the road ahead that is clear but as soon as Jana looks at Ronnie, Ronnie look straight ahead and gaps (she things she sees something is in the road)
  5. So shocked Ronnie is lost for words
  6. Ronnie takes control of the steering wheel and turn to avoid it
  7. Jana panics and 'are you crazy?'
  8. Ronnie looks behind and breathes heavily
  9. Ronnie looks at her mother and her mum looks at her but she thinks she sees something behind and looks and scream but when Ronnie slowly looks around, nothing is there
  10. Then Ronnie's poinf of view then camera will then zoomed into Jana's eyes  and seem like a flashback in time. As the camera zooms in Jana's eye everything around her is blured so the main focus is Jana's facial features
  11. The next scene me as the little girl skipping around the rose garden (scary music)
  12. Switch straight to me drawing names on the road (title sequence)
  13. Little girl talking to Mr. Frog (actual frog) near the lake
  14. Back to drawing names on the road
  15. Straight back to me drawing names to the road
  16. Then screams and I fall in the lake
  17. And finishes with the teddy bear floating in the lake

The Mood Boards

These are two mood boards that we have created to give different senses of what our thriller might be like.
